Report: West Allis Central joining WIAA spring season

West Allis Central became the third school to make plans to switch from the WIAA summer baseball season to the spring in 2019, according to a report by the Journal Sentinel.

The Bulldogs are set to compete in the Woodland Conference this summer, fresh off a switch from the Greater Metro Conference. The team went 8-24 last summer.

Oak Creek was the first team to decide to switch to spring baseball in August, and Greendale announced the same move last week. There are currently 50 schools slated to play summer baseball in 2018, and more departures will continue to bring into question the viability of having two separate high school baseball seasons in the same state.

Wisconsin is the only state to have separate spring and summer seasons.
