Legion Baseball Week 3 Power Rankings

Every week during the season, we will post our power rankings for the top 10 American Legion baseball teams in Wisconsin. Teams are ranked regardless of what Class they are in. The top 10 is selected based on a number of factors, including record, strength of schedule, and overall team talent. Our week three power rankings are below. Our top five teams in each Class can be found at the bottom of the page.

10. Stevens Point

Last week: Unranked

​The Sixers enter the top 10 for the first time this summer with a 12-5 record. They reached the championship game of the Fort Atkinson tournament last weekend, where they finished runner-up to No. 4 Beloit. They have a busy week ahead of them, with games scheduled against D.C. Everest, Wisconsin Rapids, Merrill (twice), Baraboo (doubleheader) and Wausau.

9. Kewaunee County

Last week: 9

​The Lakers are 13-1 this summer after going 3-0 last week. They defeated Ahnapee 5-1 and swept two games from Mishicot, 11-1 (5 inn.) and 5-2. They swap places with Superior as far as Class AA goes, moving up to our No. 2 team in the Class.

8. Beaver Dam Post 146

Last week: 7

​

​Post 146 took second place in the Tri State Classic tournament in Oconomowoc last week, pushing their record to 11-4 this summer. They remain our top-ranked team in Class AA. They’ve got a game scheduled against Fort Atkinson this Friday, where they’ll have the chance to avenge a loss from last week.

7. Green Bay Shockers

Last week: Honorable mention

The Shockers were the only team from Wisconsin to make it to the Sweet 16 of the Gopher Classic tournament (the largest Legion baseball tournament in the United States) by going 5-0 in pool play. They defeated Farmington (Minn.) in extra innings in the Sweet 16 to advance to the quarterfinals with a 15-5 overall record. Once they return to Wisconsin, they will face Green Bay Southwest (10-11) on Tuesday before heading to Plover for tournament play over the weekend. Their opening game in Plover will be against No. 6 Madison.

6. Madison Impact

Last week: 3

Madison went 1-2 last week, losing to Janesville (10-8 this summer) and splitting a doubleheader with No. 2 Oshkosh. They’re now 11-6 this summer, and will travel to Plover for tournament play this weekend. Their first four games of the tournament are against No. 7 Green Bay Shockers, Sheboygan, Janesville and Manitowoc.

5. De Pere

Last week: 6

​

​De Pere went 3-2 at the Gopher Classic tournament last weekend, making their record 17-6 this summer. They also beat Bay Port last week. Back in Wisconsin, they have three games this week. They’ll play Manitowoc, Pulaski, and the Green Bay Blue Jays (8-8).

4. Beloit

Last week: 5

​

​Beloit went 5-0 last weekend to win a tournament in Fort Atkinson. They defeated No. 10 Stevens Point in the title game, 10-6. They now sit at 14-3 this summer heading into the final week of the regular season. They’ll be busy this week, with a pair of doubleheaders against Lake Geneva and Union Grove, as well as a game against Waterford.

3. Eau Claire Post 53

Last week: 4

​Eau Claire won a tournament for the second straight weekend, taking home the title from their own River City Classic. They defeated Winona (Minn.), who is 16-4, in the title game. Post 53 is now 16-3 this summer. They’ll be in tournament action in Plover this weekend, where they’ll face the likes of No. 7 Green Bay Shockers and could run into teams like No. 6 Madison or Janesville (10-8) in elimination play.

2. Oshkosh

Last week: 1

​

​Oshkosh slips to No. 2 in this week’s rankings after going 1-2 last week. They lost to No. 1 Fond du Lac and split a doubleheader with No. 6 Madison. They’re now 16-2 this summer. They’ll have the chance for some payback against Fond du Lac on Thursday in addition to league games against Kimberly, Hortonville and Appleton Post 38.

1. Fond du Lac Post 75

Last week: 2

​

​Post 75 reclaims the No. 1 spot following a week at No. 2. They’re 17-1 this summer, and defeated No. 2 Oshkosh in their only game last week, giving Oshkosh its first loss of the season. They have a much busier week ahead of them this time around. They’ll play Appleton Post 38 (10-12), Oshkosh (16-2), Neenah, Appleton DoubleDays, and Kimberly.
