Hitters team tryouts set for early August
Hitters Baseball will host tryouts for its fall 2017 and summer 2018 teams from August 1-5 at Carthage College and UW-Parkside.
Tryouts begin on August 1 from 4-8 p.m. for players in the class of 2021 and 2022. Players that will graduate in 2019 and 2020 will begin their tryouts on August 2 from 4-8 p.m.
All four age groups will then finish tryouts on August 5. 2021 and 2022 grads will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2019 and 2020 grads will go from 1-5 p.m.
The tryouts on August 1 take place at Carthage College, while the others are at UW-Parkside.
Hitters teams travel around the country in the fall and summer, playing some of the best competition the nation has to offer. They participate in Perfect Game and Chicago Scouts Association events in the fall and summer, as well as the Premier Baseball World Series, Wilson Premier Classic and Prep Baseball Report Badger State Battle in the summer, among others.
The competition gives players a chance to play in front of college coaches and scouts on a weekly basis, gaining invaluable recruiting opportunities. Playing travel baseball is a great way to have chances to perform in front of staff from the college and pro levels.
Hitters teams are guaranteed to be seen, and their track record proves that.
Since opening in 1993, Hitters has had players receive over 250 Division 1 scholarships and had 56 players selected in the MLB Draft. Recently, Hitters players Gavin Lux (2016 first round), Ben Rortvedt (2016 second round) and Ryan Hoerter (2017 40th round) have been drafted straight out of high school (among others).
