2017 Newcomer of the Year: Jess Ondell

Jess Ondell has been named the winner of our 2017 Newcomer of the Year award. The Aquinas freshman was instrumental in the Blugolds' run to the Division 3 state championship this spring. His tremendous performance with the bat and consistency on the mound gave him an edge over the other candidates for the award. He batted .476 with 16 doubles, a triple and 26 RBIs this season. He was also 6-2 on the mound with a 2.37 ERA in 53 innings. He was arguably the Blugolds' best player as just a freshman. Congratulations to Jess and the other award finalists on fantastic seasons!
