Beloit Drops Game at Great Lakes Regional
Beloit Legion suffered their first loss of the Great Lakes Regional against host team Metro East on Thursday, 7-5.
Beloit held a lead late in the game, but a huge rally by Metro East sunk the Wisconsin Class AAA state runner-up.
A two RBI single by Austin Grover gave Beloit an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. However, Metro East levelled the score by plating single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
A big sixth inning gave Beloit a three run lead heading into the final phases of the game. Andres Oselio hit an RBI double, while Jake McClellan hit an RBI single. Grover scored on an RBI groundout by Drew Freitag as well.
Immediately after falling behind, Metro East sprung to life with five runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. They bashed five hits in the inning, highlighted by a two RBI double by Chance Foss.
Beloit got two runners on base in both the seventh and eighth innings, but was unable to score.
McClellan finished with three hits for Beloit, while Grover had two hits and two RBIs.
Beloit moved on to face fellow Wisconsin team Madison in an elimination game on Friday.
