RIVER FALLS, Wis.—A dominant performance by Adam Bruechert on the mound gave Wisconsin Dells Post 187 a 6-0 win over Seymour in an elimination game at the Legion baseball Class AA state tournament.
Seymour struggled to get any offense going against the southpaw, who held his opponents to just two hits in the game.

Wisconsin Dells’ offense had a much better time at the plate. In the first inning, they loaded the bases with nobody out to set the table for cleanup man Jordan Bill. He ripped a grand slam over the right field fence to give his team a 4-0 lead before Seymour could even process what had happened.
Bruechert added another run in the first with a fielder’s choice groundout with a runner on third. Wisconsin Dells sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning.
Post 187 scored again in the bottom of the second. Alex Cimaroli led off the inning with a triple in the right center gap, and scored on the play with the help of an error.
From there, Seymour’s pitching finally took control of things and held Wisconsin Dells scoreless for the rest of the game. However, the damage had already been done.
Seymour got a runner in scoring position in the sixth when Justin Krull singled and stole second base, but nothing came of it. They went quietly in the seventh to end the game.
Bruechert pitched six innings for Post 187. He struck out nine and walked just one in his stellar performance. Caleb Derus took the loss for Seymour, only pitching a third of an inning and allowing five runs. Phil Grelecki pitched 5.2 innings in relief and allowed just one run, which was unearned.
Cimaroli and Travis Hudack both had two hits for Wisconsin Dells. Bill finished 1-for-3 with four RBIs. Krull and Peyton Dorn had Seymour’s two hits.
With the win, Wisconsin Dells (27-5) survives to face the loser of the game between Antigo and Beaver Dam in another elimination game on Friday. Seymour finished the year with an 8-11 record.
