GRAND CHUTE, Wis.—Pewaukee’s offense put in a dominant performance to guide the Pirates to an 18-5 victory over Howards Grove at Fox Cities Stadium on Sunday.

The Pirates bashed thirteen hits and had help from six errors by the Tigers to cruise to an easy win.

The scoring started in the top of the first inning, when Pewaukee’s Austin Shibilski tripled and scored on an error to take a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers responded with three runs in the bottom of the first. Eric Reinemann hit an RBI single and Matthew Bagnall plated two more runs with an RBI single of his own.

The Tigers’ lead didn’t last for long. In the top of the second, the Pirates added three runs to retake the lead. Nick Majeskie hit an RBI triple before Shibilski hit a two RBI single to make the score 4-3.

The pitching held its own until the top of the fourth, when the Pirates exploded for seven runs. They had six hits in the inning, highlighted by RBI doubles by Carl Renz and Majeskie.

Pewaukee added seven more runs in the fifth to tentatively put the mercy rule into effect. Alec Wandler hit a 2 RBI double in the inning, and both Thomas Knoke and Shibilski had RBI singles. After the frame was done, the score was 18-3.

Howards Grove got the bats going in the bottom of the fifth, but didn’t score enough to cut the lead to single digits. Nic Koenig hit an RBI triple and Noah Bramstedt hit an RBI single in the frame. Ultimately, the game ended as an 18-5 Pirates win.

Shibiliski finished the game 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs, while Ryan Wagner and Majeskie both had two hits for the Pirates. Bagnall and Brad Olson paced the Howards Grove offense with two hits.

David Bell got the win on the mound. He pitched three innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. Reinemann took the loss after he allowed four runs (none of which were earned) in three innings of work.

Pewaukee moved to 17-6 with the win, while Howards Grove fell to 6-10.
