Lake Country Lutheran moves on to the state title game after defeating Chequamegon for the third straight year in a row. They are looking to defend their state title from last year.
The Lighting had the bats going early as Andrew Buran singled to left field to drive in the first run of the game. The scoring continued all with two outs as TJ Hopkins doubled to center to drive in two more runs. The score would 3-0 as Joe Lipsky and Jack Euclide made it 5 as both singled in a run.
Chequamegon would score three in the third as Wyatt Juneau hit a line shot to third that was knocked down by Lighting third baseman Andrew Buran who then tried to cut down the run at home but over threw his catcher, Jim Schumacker.
After some delay the umpires decided only to score one run instead of two. The Eagles would make sure those two runs would score on a Sam Lehman double to left field that scored two runs.
The Lighting put up a 4 spot in the 4th inning off a CJ Teske single that drove in two runs and Jake Hall single that drove in two runs, one of which was a RBI. The Lighting would lead 9-3 going to the bottom of the 4th.
Kyle Lewis of Lake Country Lutheran would go the distance and give up 0 earned runs on 2 hits and 8 strikeouts. He ended up with the win.
The Eagles offense was held in check today as they only had two hits, on 3 runs but those were all unearned.
Lake Country Lutheran will play the winner of Marathon and La Crosse Aquinas tomorrow at Noon.
